Jaffna Hindu Ladie’'s College English Union The main objective of the English Union of Jaffna Hindu ladies College is to enhance the standard of the students and enable them to shine as global citizens by identifying and developing their inherent talents and skills to their fullest potential.

Jaffna Hindu Ladies College English Union plays a vital role in achieving this goal by motivating every student and preparing them to participate in English Day and Drama Competitions conducted from the Class Level to the National Level.

Teacher also guide students to take part in competitions such as Spell Master and Debate, which are organized by recognized non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

English Union is proud to mention that students have won a considerable number of awards and prizes by excelling in these competitions at various levels.

The English Union also contributes significantly to improving students’ academic performance—especially those in the G.C.E. (O/L) classes—by carrying out special projects and remedial activities.

In addition, English Union has initiated an English Language Learning Project for Grade 7 students. To enhance their reading habits and language skills, mini libraries have been set up for their use.

To highlight the dedication and achievements of the English Union, the Annual English Day is celebrated every year with a variety of programmes including songs, dramas, speeches, and creative presentations.

A special feature of the English Day celebration is the launch of our annual English magazine, “LADIES’ LEAP,” which showcases the creative writings and talents of students.
